Chateau de Chantilly

Zamek Chantilly- ok. 40 km na północny wschód od Paryża. W ciągu stuleci - od XIV do XIX - pałac budowano, niszczono, rekonstruowano i upiększano. Należał do znakomitych rodów francuskich, przechodząc w ich ręce na drodze dziedziczenia - nigdy nie został sprzedany. Pierwszym właścicielem i budowniczym był Pierre Orgemont, w kolejnych stuleciach spokrewniony z nim ród Montmorency i Kondeusze skoligaceni z królewską rodziną Burbonów.
Pałac tworzą Petit Chateau i Grand Chateau, oddzielone od siebie fosą wypełnioną wodą. I z daleka, i z bliska wyglądają malowniczo, otoczone dużymi, zadbanymi ogrodami z fontannami, sadzawkami i kanałami. Całość liczy prawie 8 tys. hektarów. Najstarszy Ogród Francuski, zaprojektował sławny André Le Netre, twórca otoczenia Wersalu. Wokół Chantilly ciągną się lasy, ulubione miejsce weekendowych spacerów paryżan i moje od dziś..:)

The Tropical Islands Dome is the largest free-standing hall in the world. It is 360 metres long, 210 metres wide and 107 metres high (!!!) and large enough to accommodate the Statue of Liberty standing up and the Eiffel Tower lying on its side.

Banana trees, coffee bushes, jungle creepers twisting up 18 metre trees and exotic plants.
